Taxotere

ABOUT THE DRUG

Docetaxel, sold under the brand name Taxotere, is a chemotherapy medication used to treat a number of types of cancer. Taxotere may be used by itself or along with other chemotherapy medication. It is administered through slow injection directly into a patient’s vein.

It has been shown that Taxotere is linked to permanent hair loss in some clients, a horrible side effect for people already dealing with the harsh realities of fighting cancer. Other common side effects include low blood cell counts, numbness, shortness of breath, vomiting, muscle pains, potential allergic reactions and future cancers.

PURPOSE OF THE DRUG

Taxotere is a chemotherapy treatment drug used in the fight against certain cancers such as breast cancer, head and neck cancer, stomach cancer, prostate cancer and non small-cell lung cancer.

WARNINGS

An estimated 9 percent of patients given Taxotere will experience permanent hair loss lasting ten years or more. Sanofi-Aventis failed to warn patients of these disfiguring risks.

HOW BERNSTEIN, DECAILLY & MARSHALL, PLLC CAN HELP

Recent successful lawsuits have alleged that Sanofi-Aventis knew of the risks associated with Taxotere usage and its link to permanent hair loss, but purposefully failed to inform consumers. Lawsuits have been filed and a multi-district case has been certified by the court along with individual cases in other states.

If you have been diagnosed with permanent hair loss as a result of taking prescription Taxotere or know someone who has, contact us immediately for a no-cost case evaluation as you or your loved one may be entitled to compensation. The irresponsibility on the part of Sanofi-Aventis is egregious. Consumers and their families should understand the risks and how to protect themselves.
